Mental Health Programs for Children & Teens in Richmond, TX
Start Recovery Today.
Call 24/7Children and teenagers experience mental health challenges just as adults do. In the U.S., more than 16 percent of kids under the age of 18 – or one out of six – experience a mental health disorder such as depression, anxiety, or substance abuse. Yet nearly half do not receive treatment.* Early intervention matters, and our adolescent and child programs are designed to help prevent more serious, long-term concerns as kids grow.
Our trained Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) team provides specialized, evidence-based care for children and teens ages 12–18, offering both help and hope for young people and their families.
What We Treat
Navigating adolescence is difficult, and it can be even harder for a young person to recognize when they’re struggling with a mental health disorder. Many serious symptoms first appear during these years, and they can feel overwhelming, frightening, and isolating.
We provide care for children and teens facing:
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Bipolar disorder
- Suicidal thinking
- Substance use
Our facility provides a safe, secure space where kids can grow and heal, where they can learn skills that will help them for the rest of their lives.
Our program is also available 100% remote, meaning your child can receive treatment from home via secure telehealth options.
What Treatment Programs Look Like
At Westpark Springs, kids participate in programs designed specifically for them. They’re cared for by a team of mental health professionals who are trained in working with children and teens. All of our programs include an educational component so that kids can keep up with their schoolwork.
Inpatient treatment
We offer 24-hour medical monitoring for children or teenagers who are emotionally unstable. Inpatient treatment also provides a variety of therapeutic activities, as well as medication management.
In all children's mental health programs, families play an important role in helping kids develop and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Children and teens also have opportunities to participate in group therapy centered around topics of interest to them, like LGBTQ, dealing with trauma, and faith-based support.
Outpatient treatment
Our child and adolescent mental health services provide outpatient treatment ages 12+ through two formats. In our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), kids take part in individual, group, and family therapy, as well as holistic, activity-based therapy like art, music, and yoga. Our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) meets less frequently but also offers talk therapy, recreational therapy, and medication management.
Parents and children should never have to choose between education and mental health. Throughout their experience, kids receive age-appropriate education through collaborations with local schools and teachers. We also work with children, schools, and families when it’s time to reintegrate back to school, to make the transition as smooth as possible.
How to Start
The first step to feeling better is to come to one of our facilities for a comprehensive mental health assessment. We’ll ask about your child's current and past symptoms, health history, and any other concerns. During the assessment, we also provide orientation for parents and can answer any of your questions about mental health treatment.
Assessments can be scheduled by phone or chat, anytime day or night.
Following the assessment, our team will work with your child and family to determine the best approach to treatment. Each treatment plan is unique, based on your child’s needs and goals.
